A possible talent? | Autism PDD

Cool! If he's showing an interrest, I'd go with it.  Wow, maybe he has perfect pitch.

Just a little while ago, someone (sorry, can't remember who!) posted a thread, asking what our kiddos' special gifts were.  I said that Jason didn't appear to have any splinter or savant skills, and that was true.

However...yesterday, something really small but interesting happened.  We bought a couple of cheap plastic harmonicas for our older boys, and DH blew on it a little.  We hear a little voice (Jason) making the same exact sound.  We sort of eyeballed each other, and so DH did it a few more times.  Same thing, every time.  Same pitch, rhythm, etc.  Uncanny, but cool.

Is this a product of echolalia or is it something else?  He's always been very drawn to music (I'm getting him his own MP3 player for Christmas, if that tells you anything, lol), and I'm thinking of getting him a little, inexpensive keyboard or other instrument, and see if he takes to it.

What do you all think?

I think that's cool! Definitely provide musical equipment for him to play
around on and possibly develop his natural ear for music. 3 is pretty young
to be right on pitch! It's just so neat what our kids surprise us with.I think thats talent! Definately get him into some sort of instrument. If he dosnt take the first keep trying till he finds something he really likes. Im sure hel keep amazing you! Hayden has perfect pitch too and makes us sing songs but gets upset like the world is ending until we sing it millions of times and get the pitch absolutely perfect.
