Well we had a sleep study first that showed abnormal activity then the eeg was sleep-deprived. The tech told me during that he got a wonderful reading so thank goodness we won't have to do that again. With her sensory issues, the 25 or so probes places on her head was utter torchure. Thanks for the forum topic. I thought my dd was unique in the fact that she wakes up from anethesia (oral work) a raging beast! The strength she had was unbelievable.
Was it an EEG during sleep? Otherwise, I wouldn't jump to the conclusion that this abnormal activity has been affecting her sleep. My son had one incident of abnormal activity during a regular EEG, but nothing showed up on the MRI or sleep-deprived EEG (he wasn't able to fall asleep). So they concluded that it was just a glitch -- I got the impression that we all have occasional incidents of abnormal brain activity.
To prepare for the MRI, you might want to read this topic on our forum:

Assuming the MRI involves sedation, you might want to read this information from an anesthesiologist who herself has 2 autistic children:

Good luck with everything.
My daughter had an eeg done two weeks ago and it showed "abnormal activity on both sides of her brain". They said it could be possilbe seizure activity and we scheduled an MRI for next week. My question is, do children with autism just have abnormal activity that shows up or is it something else? I can't get her in too a neurologist for 2-3 months. I don't feel any of my questions were answered and it's wearing me out. Any experiences would greatly help. I just know that we haven't had a full night's sleep in 6.5 years because of this "activity". They did however rule out sleep disorders.
