Dearest frederick,
I do not profess to understand their intentions nor infer that they are attempting to obfuscate any information as it pertains to my filial progeny simply proclaiming that they are being intentionally obtuse...and are a bunch of douchebags :)

Regarding your school district - Stick it to the man, Cam!
BB had the ABLLS done this last summer. We are requesting a copy. We are being held at arm's length and today got the answer of-we can give you a narrative!
I am pretty sure this is BS right?
We can get a copy of the actual scores and test from them yes?
Please let me know what you know ASAP! We were supposed to meet tomorrow and then have a PPT for a new IEP on the 11th, but I am telling them to get F's until we get those scores in hand to be evaluated.
Yes, that is BS. It's your child's record and you have every right to see it. They should give you the graph with each category. It won't tell you anything without the book for reference, so you will want the narrative as well. Who is withholding this information from you?
You are entitled to get copies of all testing in their entirity. The charts are a PITA to read but you can take them to another professional to read if you dont trust who did it the first time.
This is EXACTLY what we were planning to do BEFORE we were to meet about the test outcomes and before they try and massage the data into what they think his IEP should look like.
flip-The preschool is doing this currently.
I have requested all of Daniel's se file. I plan to have him tested elsewhere. I am takeing him to someone who knows the therapies he's gotten so far. As long as it is part of his medical records or charts and you signed the HIPPA paperwork and the releases they have to give you a copy if you request it. They can not withhold medical information without just cause and even then it seems like they would be setting themselves up for a lawsuit. I agree with Flip though you need the narrative to understand what the test scores need. They typically don't give the test scores unless you ask because they figure the average parents don't know what they mean and also don't understand how the test work. Have been through this recently with trying to get Vineland scores for my youngest.
I have a freakin' job. I commute 90 miles a day and these bastards think that I can just take off whenever?! My schedule is so malleable?! Sorry, they can stay late as easily as I can come early.

That sucks!!!!!
Your BS meter is accurate.
Last year I asked for the results from C's tests (wasn't the ABBLS, it was other tests) and they gave me the narratives. I then asked for the actual scores, including subscale raw and converted scores, and was told that they wouldn't mean anything because they need to be interpeted by a professional blah, blah, blah and I said that I understood that but wanted them anyway and they went right into the other room and made copies for me on the spot.
Well, they're not neccessarily obfuscating, so I wouldn't get annoyed with them just yet. Most parents would probably prefer the narrative version as the chart itself is rather uninformative unless you are willing to dig into it. They're probably trying to be helpful by offering an interpretation of the chart instead of just the raw data. I don't think it's an unreasonable request, but they are probably just making assumptions about what it is that you're really looking for.Now they have just called my DW and told her that they CANNOt meet tomorrow at the proposed time, want to put off the meeting until the 11th when the PPT was to take place and then have the PPT the next day at 1 pm. NICE NOTICE!

I am going to raise some serious hell really soon if I do not get some calming news.
