Rapport with the teacher aide? | Autism PDD

Is it important to like your child's teacher aide or is it more the case of the connection the t/a can make with your child?  I feel sometimes that the aide and I aren't gelling but then I know that there's a shortage of good people to do the job.  I think is it about my feelings or should I just concentrate on the fact that the aide likes my son?So far I have a great rapport with both teacher and aide. We communicate on an often basis. They are awesome, and my ds just loves them. I think if everyone can like eachother, that's best, but if she likes your son and is good with him be happy.  That is not always the case!I'm working on getting a new aide for my dd. She's a very nice woman but has had absolutely no training .  She's supposed to get it but even then it's not enough.  She doesn't speak English that well and my dd doesn't speak Spanish.  She needs and aide who will do more than say "I can't get her to do anything" I do talk to her in the Am and PM but again without training she's merely a babysitter.

My son has had 2 different assistants, and I've been lucky that both my son and I have liked them.  Communication is important, but I think it would take a lot for me to try and switch assistants.

Do you ever get to talk with the assistant in a setting where there aren't kids around?
