regression in potty training... | Autism PDD

Some of you might remember that a few weeks ago I decided to start putting Mason to bed in underwear, just to see how well we did...well he is doing ok, but still has several accidents a week.

My question is now he is regressing in his day training...he has had several potty and poopy accidents during the day over the last 2 weeks.  Tomorrow he starts first grade and I'm so worried about sending him to school in underwear with the amount of accidents he has been having during the days lately.

Do you think this could have been brought on by the nighttime training or could it be stress and worries related to school starting?

He has been daytime trained for a little less than a year, but we have not seen this many accidents from him in a long time?

Have any of you gone through this type of regression with potty training this far into it?  Would you consider going back to pull-ups at this point?  I'm just so worried about him having an accident and having the other kids seeing this and maybe avoiding him because of something like this.  I mean I don't think there are very many kids out there that would be having accidents in first grade, so I'm really worried about the social ramifications this could have.

What do you all think?  Any advice?

Thanks so much!

My youngest son doesn't have a diagnosis but has social delays that we're keeping an eye on.  He was trained at age 3-3/4 years.  Things went fine to start with, but when he was transferred to a new and larger preschool at age 4-3/4 (his small preschool was bought out), he started having wetting accidents -- mostly after coming home from school.

This summer he didn't have one single accident, but when he started elementary school 2 weeks ago, the accidents started again.  Again, only after school (once just before leaving school).

I guess what I'm trying to say is, yes, it is possible to have accidents late in the game.  In my son's case it's clearly stress related, but there's always the possibility of physical illness, so you might want to rule that out.

Good luck with everything.
