My daughter will only eat salty foods: hot dogs, chips, crackers, etc. She refuses to eat anything sweet!!
Yes, we only use a really good sea salt grinder at home ( I"m a bit of a health food nut")....Luke just LOVES it, I think he'd use the hole container. We limit him to "3" grinds per use.
I guess it runs in the family, because I love salt too--just not as much as he does.
Hi:
My son really craves salt as well. He is a huge Play-Doh eater (I either don't let him use it or have to monitor closely.) Salt isn't necessarily all bad. If your son is going to crave it I suggest buying some good celtic sea salt and a grinder (you can find it at a health food store.) It has plenty of important minerals.
Mmmm...salt. I was a salt addict as a child too. I actually used to grow salt crystals (I paid attention in science class!) and eat them. Gross, I know, but the addiction subsided! My son and I do prefer salty foods (genetic maybe?). We use sea salt alot...not as much comes out of the grinder as my regular shaker. My son's blood pressure is normal and he's healthy - I don't worry about the salt intake much at this point.hahaha, I used to eat it when about 12 or 13, ya its pretty sick, but for some reason i loved the way it felt, not the taste but the actual feeling of it while I was eating it, nothing else like it. I had never had that much before then one day I just decided to 'try' it i suppose, I dont do it anymore, as I realize now its bad for ya, unless in moderation (at that time it was not) but the desire never really went away, but this time it must accompany some other food and not be eatin by itself. I dont know... it could be related, or we could just enjoy salt??? who knows?hello all! I have a bit of an odd question.
My son has been craving salt. I'd estimate that it's been over the past 2-3yrs. I just realized the other day that he has been eating alot of pickles, olives, salt n' vinegar chips (only this type of chip), and using salt excessively at meals (so much that we have a "3 grind" rule with the salt grinder)
I'm pretty good with offering a variety of foods, and he usually eats a very well rounded diet. He'll eat larger amounts of the salty foods if they are available. I am going to talk with this pediatritian this week. However ,I just wondered if anyone else has had a child that craves salt in particular.
thanks!
Kelly
