Emma met her teacher today & got to see her classroom. She was very
excited, but remained very reserved and wanted little to do w/ the kids,
teacher, or aides. Shocking, huh?
She was SO excited when she
spotted their PECS schedule & all the cards around the room.
What is your advice on first day (Tuesday)? Do I just drop her off, say
goodbye, & walk off, even if she is upset? Or, do I stay there & help
prompt her etc.? With my older dd, she has never had a transition
problem, but I'd have just left her, knowing she'd recover in a minute or
two & be fine. But, I'm worried that if I leave dd screaming or upset, this
will be the start of unwanted behaviors and/or fears with school. I trust
this staff 100%, and I KNOW dd will love it, once she is okay with it all.
What have you guys done?
Thanks!!!
hi
if she is settled
just explain what will happen and let her know you are coming back
lucas was upset for ages and we found out that he did not understand we would be back
we used a watch and set the timer then he knew i was coming lol
hang coat up kiss show her time you will be back and go
it will break your heart but if she does not cope with it that way you can stay
the next day
at least you will know
hugs to you
