Hello -
Just a quick question, has anyone ever used the baby bumble videos to help devleop speech? My 3 year old is not putting words together although knows many single words. If you have used it, have you seen an improvement? I was just wondering if this could help along with working him at home and taking doing ST.
thanks so much!!! Use them! They are the best thing on the market for nonverbal kids! Sarah learned all the words in all the videos and many other things like actions, emotions, colors, adjectives..ect...she picked them up really fast:) I think the music and the repetive nature of these videos help them retain and learn them so well.. I loved them and gave them all away to new moms of newly diagnosed kids. I have seen them at the library too so you dont even have to purchase them:) I used them for my dd as well but ended up selling them on Ebay after we were done. Now I am kicking myself because my youngest could use them.We had that action words set, and I liked how simple the videos were. Thanks - I just checked my local library and they are not in and only on VHS tapes....can i buy them at like a wal-mart or best buy or do you just order online????
thanks
You can order them online through their website, or I saw them on Ebay last night while browsing for some other things. I've used them with my son for about 8 months now, and they are marvelous for helping reinforce language - they've actually been instrumental in getting him to begin using single and two-word sentences. Now he's enjoying the numbers and sequencing videos, and the action words. We watch one in the morning when he's waking - they're quiet and calming, so easy to slide into while still groggy. And then he watches it again later in the day. We switch them out every couple of days, and then rotate back. I'm not certain they'd work for sentences but for labelling they would. They work like Baby Einstein (like the signing video) and like other baby labelling videos such as brainy baby. It plays background classical music shows pictures of the variations of the same objects while saying and showing the text name of the objects. So it would show a real train chugging on the track and say "train" while having the word in an upper corner, then show a boy playing with a train, then show a train picture and say "train" again. We have just started using these videos. I rent them through Netflix first to see if my son likes them. I only ever puchased two Einstein videos, both were for signing. We used them to assist in our signing. They definitely worked for that. However, I am unaware of any additional words that my son learned due to them. However, we recently rented "Crazy for Colors" by bumblebee. My son has been grouping colors for quite some time. However, since renting this video, he is now saying them. There is a lot of repetition...what is this color..this color is blue! It really seems to click for him. I will be looking for others. I have nothing but raves for these videos thus far. We limit the video watching to 2 or 3 half hour videos per day. THis is the first one he picks. |
