Omega 3 fish oils... | Autism PDD

Has anyone tried to give their dc fish oils?  I am curious, did anything happen?

I just got my dd some fish oil from HiHealth.  The brand is Carlson for Kids.  I gave her some tonight, I cant wait to see if there is a difference?

Do I just need Omega 3 or is there more to it than that...like vitamins?

Thanks everyone:)

I've never seen a difference, and I've been giving my kids cod liver oil off and on since they were 6 weeks old.  But even if it doesn't make a behavioral difference for everyone, it's still worthwhile for overall heart and brain health.

Fish oil contains Vitamin A and D, if I recall correctly, but it's the Omega vitamins that are unique.

We did see a difference within a week to 10 days. I can also tell when he hasn't received his fish oil - he is more spacey and more oppositional that day. However, it may have been a developmental growth that was just coincidental, but I am pretty sure it's not.

Anyway, you have to be careful to get a kind that doesn't have mercury in it. Nordic Naturals and Neuromins for Kids are two kinds that I am aware of that do not have mercury in it.

Fish oil also seems to have helped both my ds and my dh to not get sick hardly at all this year - even if my dd and I were! That is huge as ds seemed to get sick a LOT the previous year. His behaviors also tank when he is getting sick - so this may be helping with behavioral issues as well. It's hard to separate it all out. But, for the approximately .00 a month I pay for the Neuromins for Kids fish oil - it has been worth it just for the not getting sick!
