Daughter Diagnosed Today | Autism PDD

Share

Well today was the day, I went to the neuropychologists and he told me Gina has ADHD. As for Autism spectrum he said she has some characteristis of Aspergers, but will have to do some more testing.

She was so distracted the day of her testing because she has a hard time focusing. The Neuro suggested meds either concerta or adderal. Frankly Iam willing to try it, because she is so hyper. She can not sit and eat, she cant sleep, school was a flippin nightmare.

I hope Iam making the right decision, but I do trust this Neruo, he has a wonderful reputation in the city in which I live. Iam at the end of my rope and I havent had sleep in 6 years either!

The doc wants to see how the meds go and see if her behavior and focusing improves in school! All I can do is pray, I know other people who have had their children on meds and has worked really well for ADHD.

Just thought I would post the findings today-Iam not to upset, I areready did my homework and my diagnoses as a Mom was correct.

Thank you everyone again for the kind posts previoulsly!

If it is indeed adhd and your dd does well on meds it would be wonderful.
Adhd and asd have much in common and it sounds like you have a good
doctor.
My ds gets very hyper in new situations and I tried two different
stimulants for him. He responded with increased anxiety which confirmed
my belief that in my sons case it is not adhd . I still believe it was worth
the try because I would have always wondered.
I hope this will work for you. Let us know.

At least now you have some concrete answers and can starting making a game plan. Big tight hugs are comin your way. and see if there is any familiarity to you.  "SMS" is diagnosed by a genetic test called  FSH Test (fish test as we call it) good luck I will be thinking of you...My middle son is ADHD only.  And the meds were wonderfull for him.  He is a different kid on the meds.  He is much happier and did wonderfull in school.  Adam is both ASD and ADHD, the meds help with his impulsivness.  If the meds work you will notice a difference on the first day.  Want to send you a MEGA GIANT hug

Hi there!  Stay strong and know that there are others that think of you and have gone through similar experiences.  You will find a lot of joy along the path, don't worry.

Here's something to cheer you up..

Best regards,

Mark

just wanted to wish you luck

I wanted to thank all of you for your support! It is nice to see we are not alone and that someone does understand.  I get so fustrated with some people, and family members when they say my child is just spoiled. I admit she is spoiled to some degree, but I do know some of her behaviors she truly cannot help herself.

My boyfriend has a hard time understanding Sensory issues, PDD, anxiety, OCD, autism ets. He tries to but I do  have to put him in his place and say listen Iam the MOM and I know so put a sock in it!

My daughter starts school this Thursday and I have major anxiety about her

behavorial problems.  She gives me a very hard time about getting ready for

school with clothing issues. It drives me nuts!!! She basically is not scared of anyone and is very stubborn.  She can be loving but lately she has been really bossy which all kids I think go through this Independent stage.

It makes me nervous because my daughter does not do well with change, she go into her own world which I call Gina land. She talks to herself, mostly imaginative play from her dvds or whatever occured that day. I will say who are you tallking to and she will say my imaginary friend. She did this last year in the class room at times and the kids thought she was strange.  It does not seem to bother her but I feel bad that the kids seem to see the odd things she does. One kid in her class last year said she was the funniest girl in the class! I guess it could be worse, she was sent to the principles office and I was sooo embarassed! I  was like Principles office in Kindergarten

I am glad you got some answers and your dd will do amazing with meds..

I knew a little boy determined to have severe autism because he had every single trait on the DSM but once the mom put him on ADHD meds he started talking full sentences and learning rapidly and is now considered HFA and if you didnt know it he looks, talks and acts perfectly nt to me:) Good luck!
