WOW!  Congratulations.  Now, remember, you'll have to do this at least once a year, so keep FETA handy.  Now, go enjoy the rest of your summer. Thanks everyone!! Talk about a LOAD of stress off my shoulders. So glad to
have one under my belt!

Linda--my dd has dx of "static encephalopathy" (brain dysfunction/
damage), so that is what their working off of, plus 2 other OHI's. We will
most likely seek the PDD eval, when she gets older (especially when we push
for her to be mainstreamed, she'd be eligible for more specific & special
services w/ autism label as opposed to what she has now). Yes, we are
sooooo happy!!!

We had our dd's IEP meeting today...wow, I NEVER thought we'd get to
this point. Some of you may remember, the school has been very difficult
and we were on recess all summer for our meeting. We were so very
delighted to get the draft IEP last week, and how the meeting went today.
They were very OPEN to our ideas & added what we wanted. I truly feel
that all in attendance but one person (the major opposition from the
start--not quite sure what her deal is, but I don't have to deal w/ it
anymore!!) were on the same page as us, and are happy to be giving
services to our dd. This is that great meeting they talk about it the FETA
book (thanks again, tzoya!), and how it should go. Our SD has a bad rep
for their spec ed & services, I'm glad we ended up being the exception &
hopefully the start of new things to come.

We opted to not do the autism eval at this time--she is getting the
services & we agree w/ her placement. If things change, we'll have her
eval'd by their PDD team (she has the med dx of autism). Best part: I
LOVE the teacher. The classroom is a dream come true--PECS
everywhere, picture schedule, choice cards, etc., they use sign language
for visual cues, plenty of sensory integration opportunities, the list goes
on & on!! Teacher is so sweet, and the other kids will be a good mix for
dd. I really feel this is the right placement, and will really be a positive
thing.

She starts next week (have to get health plan enacted). I'm getting a little
nervous, of course!! I'll keep everyone posted. Thanks again for all the
support, advice, & input.

So excited!!    That sounds great!!!!!!!!! Are they giving her  a developmentally delayed label then? That is how the boys are still labeled, and Nikolas is still in an autism classroom. That label expires at age 6 though and then the school will re-evaluate and most likely give them the autism label. Every state is different so I don't know if that's the same in your state, but I am so happy it went well and dd is getting what she needs!
