My son also loves the wiggles! They have books with little MP3 players with the songs on there. That helped my son rediscover books can be fun.
I wouldn't expect him to sit and enjoy a big group. It is just hard for kids on the spectrum. Maybe try it in 2-3 minute doses, like during a song. My son's preschool teacher use to blow up a balloon then let it go and ask where it landed. The kids all enjoyed that.
Just be patient and if he is happy he will be fine.
hi i have a 4 yr old boy in my preschool room who is the most loveliest child he has autisum and finds it hard to socialise to sit at group time can u all help me with ideas info good websites activitys fdor him he loves the wiggles
My daughter found it very hard to jon in floor time. she couldn't stand having every one so close to her. She used to sit on a chair just outside the circle with her Aide so she could still see and hear what was happening and join in. Also they had puzzles, and beads(her favourite toys) to play with while they did floortime. My son (also autistic) had his own special mat to sit on - a holden car mat because he loves holdens) and this helped him to stay seated on the floor with everyone else. Be sure to ask the parent what the childs interests are. LizI have been in an autistic room recently (just learning myself) and I notice that they use very few words when asking the autistic children to do things. "Sit", "quiet hands", "Story" eg's. They repeat this over and over. They also use positive rewards such as a small snack piece like gold fish to keep the child in the group.
