My ds's school is starting in 7 days. He is starting at a new school and his
IEP says that he will receive daily help with transitioning at the beginning
of the year. Well- I asked the school what their plan is and the answer I
got was "Good question. He will not get a 1;1 that's all we know"
I do not think the school is mean-spirited , more like flakey.
I know that officially special ed does not start until 10 days into the
school year. However something like transitioning only makes sense to
start on the first day. When can I expect the school to have a plan that
they can share with me- legally speaking. Can I request to see that plan
in writing? Do they have to have a plan or can they just fudge it?
Special education is supposed to start on Day One. However, many schools simply don't "DO" it that way because parents never take them to Due Process over it.
