Cranky baby | Autism PDD

My son had language, he is an aspie, but he was very mean when he was a toddler and very colicky when he was a baby. He was a very unhappy child.  How old is your child?  Anthony was quick to anger starting about 10-12 months.  We often had no clue why he was like that.  I believe it was defintely his lack of language (both expressive and receptive).  I don't think the poor guy understood anything that was being said and he couldn't communicate anything to us.  It mostly resolved as his language developed.

She is 2.5. Its a strange kind of grumpy.. It turns on immediately and turns off even quicker, over nothing. She is non-verbal, but does have a way of telling me what she wants, by running to me and crying then to the item of interest...(like the door if she wants to go out)

Thanks for your thoughts...

Dr.s have mentioned that she is a sensory seeker, but never mentioned that could be  different than autism. Is it?

Sensory issues are not autism

autism is diagnosed on the triad of impairments

though behaviours and rigid routines to form a good overall picture

If your child has the triad, then autism or aspergers with the ecception of speech

will be given

if there are many of the diagnostic criteria but not enough in each catagory then pdd/nos will be given

sensory issues from what i can tell does play a huge role with children with ASD though it is not diagnostoc criteria i believe it should be

Have you tried giving your child another way of communication i.e pecs

this is the triad of impaiments

Other features commonly associated with Autism are:

My autistic son was often serious and quick to anger, more so when we were out and about than at home.

I agree that language deficits cause frustrations, and would add that sensory issues do to.  Here's a link to the sensory processing disorder checklist, which should reveal your child's sensory issues:

Good luck with everything.

no lol

both my kids were the perfect babies sam we had to check he was alive he never moved or blinked lol

many mums with children with ASD report either very sceamy noisy babies or very quite never in between though like everything with autism everyhting is balck and white no room for inbetweens

shell

I think if she is NOT verbal, that is the reason for her grumpiness. They cannot get even their basic needs across to us, imagine how frustrating that would be! If she is verbal, then there might be something you should look in to. I hope everything checks out ok

Any thoughts??
