Looking for any and all advice.

Though I do not post here often I do lurk daily. :)

A little background..

My son is now 33 months old. He was evaluated last Oct through EI and qualified for services. He was seen last Jan by a Nuero Ped who said she felt we were looking at a language disorder, possibly apraxia rather than an ASD but to continue with services.

He has since been getting ABA, ST & OT.

He has made amazing progress. He is talking though most of his words are more approximations. He very engaged and the majority of the red flags he had for ASD have diminished. He still has some quirks here and there. Some days I am certain he is not on the spectrum other days I am not so convinced. He is doing wonderful and I just want him to get the help he needs.

Anyway, he will be three in Jan so we are just starting the transition to preschool. I am pretty sure he will qualify since he is very speech delayed. I am prepared to fight for appropriate speech therapy services and I am hoping he will benefit from the program in our district.

We are in Old Bridge, NJ.

If anyone has any info or advice they would like to share about this subject, I would be so grateful.

TIA. I really appreciate it!

You all are so wonderful and I have learned so much from all of you!

He sounds like he is doing great..I would try to keep as much ABA as you can while he is in preschool..the 1:1 will help him in language so much more than preschool setting..he needs that too but ABA really got our dd language up to peer level so much faster...at 3 years old she was verbally assessed at a 8 mos. level and now she is age appropriate:) If he is progressing so well I would keep doing what you are doing and not stop till he is out of the woods:) Good luck!

It sounds like you are doing a great job. I wouldn't focus so much on if he is or not on the spectrum, but rather just treating the symptoms and delays, which it sounds you are doing. Usually it's not too difficult to get preschool services, especially with a speech delay. They will do an evaluation and that will help guide what services they offer and his IEP goals. You are doing so well with the early intervention--keep it up. I would keep the ABA, speech and Ot going. Good job!
