a little confused | Autism PDD

I have done so much research online but I still am confused about something. I have an appointment for noah with a dev. ped this week but I also had set up and OT evaluation and speech eval because he stammers alot. should I cancel the OT and speech eval now that I have the dev ped apt? will he check for that stuff too or should I keep all three?

Is the dev. ped appointment before the others?  If you end up liking the dev. ped you may want to go with their referals for OT and Speech.  Usually, they work well together if they refer to each other.  If the dev. ped doesn't think it's necessary, I would keep the appointments because you think it's necessary.

Keep all appointments. The Speech and OT are for evaluations specifically for those areas...The develpmental pediatrician will not evaluate speech or OT...He will be able to tell that the child needs both and can recommend or reffer but you will still need to see both the speech therapist and OT.

OT and speech therapists examine fine motor and speech/language issues specifically. The developmental ped. examines overall development. The tests they all give are different and are all pertinent.  Keep all appointment. If this is for your middle one, he qualfies, age-wise, to get these evals thru the school district, too.

I'd say,yes...keep all....those evals, followups, and reccommendations help when it comes to IEP's and getting services you want....

Best of luck
