My daughter SOMETIMES asks for it! I leave it up to her ... my NT daughter OFTEN asks for it -- but she also asks to take her breother's antibiotics ...
We did it. This site has a good explanation.

We were successful with this method in being able to calm her down a bit. For example, from the time we put her in the car seat to about 1 hour after we took her out she would scream and cry. After brushing, (about 3 weeks worth?) she could tolerate the car seat for short trips.
Was wondering if anyone has had experience with therapeutic brushing? My daughter's OT suggested it after I told her about her run-in with a spider's web (she screamed like she'd been bitten by a rattlesnake, which scared the crap out of me, and her fear and anxiety about encountering another are causing her to obsess about them). The OT said she'd show me how to use a surgical brush on her arms and legs to help desensitize her to light touch, but that I'd need to do it every 2 or 3 hours for it to be effective. Can anyone tell me if this works well, and for how long I'll need to do it? Thanks. My daughter has it. It has worked for her. She is 6 yrs old. My aunt an OT recommended it for my daughter. It seems like it really helped with her speaking and calmed her down.
