Sensory Issues getting WORSE!! | Autism PDD

Share

Adam had terrible sensory issues.  The book is great.  But the best thing he ever had was an OT that knew alot about SI.  We took Adam twice a week for almost 2 years.  It has been a life saver.     WHEN DANIEL WAS DISMISSED FROM OT WE WHERE TOLD LOTS OF HEAVY WORK ACTIVITY. ALSO TRY RELAXING FOODS BEFORE LEAVEING THE HOME. HOW ANOUT CLASSICAL MUSIC IN THE CAR. I read meds don't help si issues though. Try a camling herb.I think meds can help with SI (well at least the irritability caused by the SI), just my opinion from observing sharlet (on Risperdal).  But really I just wanted to say that I think SI can get worse as our kids get older, before they get better.  Sharlets have gotten worse and worse as has her anxiety, now it's out of control.  I hope that it will reach a peak and begin to subside as she gets older.

Good Luck
I believe that Risperdal does help with sensory especially sound issues...when he came off of Risperdal his need for movement activities increased!!! He also has struggled with anxiety as well all of his life, now we are on anti-depressants for the OCD and his anxiety is much better. The first med that we tried was Risperdal...it really helps with sound issues and sensory problems in general...it normalizes the brain chemicals for my son...Also Focalin is the stimulant that we used...I've heard others saying that it works good with autism!!!

Thank you.  I am going to try and get one of the sensory CD's to play for him and see if this works.  He has gotten much worse over the past week.

I think the last should bring up all 11 pages of threads that were pulled when I searched for "sensory diet."

WOW!!!  Thank you so very much!!!  I've been saving so many past links with great info.  Trenton has his pdoc appt tomorrow.  The dr wants to start him on the new adhd patch that releases very slowly.  I'll let everyone know how it goes.  Once I see if it makes things better or worse, I'm going to start his sensory diet.  I am going to have to do some shopping first lol.  I'm excited to try this and going to stay hopeful.

OMG... I've been on a mission today.  Look at this article.  This is my son to a T.  Our pdoc wants to put him on the Riatalin patch but after reading this and how it can make things worse, I don't know what to do.

I tried to look up sensory diet on my search bar and it times out.  Can anyone help me, please.

michelem - The search feature doesn't seem to be working right.  It's been timing out on me, and then it didn't pull stuff I knew should have been there.

Here's what I've come up with so far.

Thank you so much.  I will go there and look.

Sam would love to be a *house cat*! It can be very difficult to get him outside.  Is something over-stimulating your child in the car - we can't play music in the car with Sam. He now can tell us  to turn it off, but I wonder how many meltdowns in the past where due to years of listening to music which sounded like nails on a chalkboard to him?

Do you have a sensory diet for your child? The Outa Sync Child Has Fun has lots of ideas, as does this board -  use the Search button and check out *sensory diet* for more thoughts.

Mama to Sam PDD NOS OCD ODD PPD

I'm so confussed on what to do for this one.  All of a sudden this summer, Trenton can not handle being out of the house.  He immediately gets over sensitized.  We went to my company's work party yesterday and he refussed to even get out of the car.  When we tried, he would scream.  He did the same thing at the fair.  He did good for a little while riding the rides and then over went crazy.  He would hit and scream and cry.  I finally left and took him home.  I told him to go settle down in his room.  After about 20 minutes he was calm and ready to be out and about in the house.

Any ideas that help with sensory would be greatly appreciated.  Thank you so much.

We spent three years in OT for sensory issues, and have had great progress.  What remains is anxiety and OCD created from the sensory issues--mostly memories of bad experiences even though he no longer is afraid or hurt by those things.  Brushing was a huge help, as are the compressions.

We found swinging to be a great help--not typical front back swinging, but side to side or diagonal swinging.  In fact, on days when he swings, his brain is more 'orderly' and he functions better.  when we forget, after a day or two we notice more meltdowns.  School breaks are bad, b/c they do it daily at school for him.

No point to look for candida + i stool .It usually does not reach large intestine ) only small= .
Most test does not show .I did ALL test and only CANDI5 home test for candida ) from Australia   shows .
Candida lives in kidneys ,bladder ..............that is why when autistic child urinate + smelles funny , is VERY alcaline  + only from anaerobic bacteria   that is changine uree  into amonia .......but the rest of  body is acid!

I  use Exmykhelm from German Sanum homeopathic .

We had lots of sensory issues ,the best treatment is alcalizing body( check PH urine 3 x a day) Nystatin , Ketokenozol , Flyconazol , grape seed and anty worms( Hulda Clark)
Some use Epsom Salt creams ,MSM with succes.
I know , when my girl starts to run and scream - she has yeast .It can be Candida alb , or other kind , Proteus , Klabsiella , E.Coli .

No point to give stimmulants ,  they will mask the real problem .

Cordyceps is working on balancing immune system  and gut- patogens .
This will make die-off - try Alka zelther gold , grapefruit , distilled water  etc charcole .

The thing about Candida is really true. I plan to get rid of this also. Thanks for the imfo. Not all dr.'s do this yeast/leaky gut thing.
