I just found out 2 weeks ago that the school I had my son registered with (a catholic school) just informed me that they can't accomadate my son. I am fighting with the diocese that they are discriminating against my son. When I visited the school in February (with his IEP) they said that they can take Jacob, I filled out the registeration and financial for this and now they can't because he needs resource room 1 hour a day for support for math and ELA. There classes are only 45 minutes. They already have taken the money fror 1 months tuition. I am so upset. I won't rest until they take my son out of principle. They, I feel, can split his Resourse Room to 2 30 minutes since it is for 2 classes. Has this happened to anyone??? I would like to know.
If they receive ANY Federal funds, they MUST accommodate him. However, since this is a private school, they are NOT bound by his IEP. They can offer him 45 minutes of Resource Room or 2 45 minute periods -- it's up to them.
Believe me, ALL Catholic schools accept Federal funds. That means they are bound by the American's with Disabilities Act.
