Saw Jason’s classroom tonight... | Autism PDD

That's great.  My boy and I met up with his 2 new teachers and 1 old teacher yesterday, and I am also pleased to report good vibes.

Good luck on Monday.

Well, school starts again for us this coming Monday (yay for school! lol), so it was Back to School night at the elementary school.  The boys had a great time, and when we were there, we spotted the Services Coordinator we met earlier this year who told us she thought we were "on the right track" by having Jason evaluated for autism.  Heh heh.

So, anyway, when we spotted her, we asked her if we could have a peek at the sped preschool class Jason will be attending shortly.  Funnily enough, as soon as we walked in and she introduced us to the teacher, she said, "Oh, so this is Jason!" or words to that effect.  Basically, she had already heard about Jason and had been given a heads up that he will be attending soon.  (Probably by/before the end of the first quarter).  So anyway, she hunkers down to say hello to Jason, who is in our double stroller, and he just lunges at her, to give her a hug!  This from the kid who doesn't like most people at all...it was cute, really.  Though he refused to look at her later.  LOL

We let him out, and he took off like a rocket, exploring every corner of the classroom, before settling on some wooden puzzles, which he kept putting together, and very accurately, too!  At home, he won't do that, he'll just take the puzzle pieces and line them up.  That was very encouraging to see as well.

Bottom line is, there are nine other kids in the class (not all have autism, though), and I liked the look of the room, and the teacher seemed quite nice.  I was also pleased that they already knew about Jason, and are looking to see him in the classroom soon.  They all seem very excited about having Jason in the class, at any rate, and I can't help but see their attitude as a good thing.

Anyways, I found this sort of interesting, and wanted to share.

Sounds like a good thing to me too. Good Luck this year. SOunds good. I always believe going with the gut is a good idea.
