when I was little, and i remember this very vividly, my parents said i made up words, and they sounded like real words, i did this in front of a bunch of neghboors when I was 4 when my parents threw a bbq for the neghboorhood
, i think, eveyone was ammused, i beleive their is video somewhere of it happening.
Anyways, my words
Mucsle = Crub
Katchip = Wires (thick black insulated ones hanging from telephone lines)
Chocolate = The steering column on our old volvo
WHen i first started doing this my mom would correct me (my dad never witnessed this), after a while, she gave up, especally the day of the BBQ.
Is this criteria for HFA??? I mean, i figured every kid did it, but my NT sister did not.
My son did this,In fact Beccaposie, my forum name is a made up word for the spot in jeans in the crutch ,where all four seams meet.he would grab this spot and say its becca becca Posie.
he also used to call a piece of plastic Quedodo???
Linda
Yes, my son used to do this sometimes. "Jambo" meant octopus (from the jellyfish called Jimbo Jones in a Dr. Suess book). "Hoomplomper" meant invention. Etc.
It was even one of the questions on the autism evaluation interview, but the emphasis was more on whether our son insisted *we* use his made-up word, which he did not.
My boys seem to have their own language between eachother. they make up words for things......eg: Playing in the bathroom sink is called "hotters" lol I have no idea where this came from.
And playing in the kitchen is called Favorite r's. I know it sounds strange and it is!!!!
i'm just wondering if anyone else's children do this type of thing, actually the reason i'm asking is because the beautiful little girl in the you tube vid seemed to do something similar to this.
