Good luck! Keep us posted.Aside from dentist appt next week...we now have 2 observations by SD
scheduled. One is tomorrow (gymnastics) & the other at kids play area next
week. Basically, if they see a meltdown, then dd is in the program. I just
love setting my dd up to fail...
Anyway, she has anything from a small
meltdown to major one at gymnastics, and her coach is amazing, really
works with her. Our psych said to make sure coach doesn't do her normal
stuff for dd, that she treat her just like any other child in class. I so hate to
do that...my heart is breaking already for dd. It sucks!
I'll defenitely need a margarita or two tomorrow night, just to clear my head
of guilt!!! Can I send the bill to the SD???
I'll let you all know how it goes...WIsh you luck this must be tough That's ridiculous. I really feel for you. That would make me feel lousy, too. Oh man...don't get me started! LOL! It's for the PPCD program, at the
time of evaluation, she did not have the autism dx BUT had 3 OHI
qualificiations (static encephalopathy, seizure disorder, feeding
difficulties) plus SPD & oral motor apraxia...AND on the official paperwork
she is declared a child w/ a disability who qualifies for special ed. BUT,
they wrote in after that space they do not have the LRE for her & suggest
a regular preschool. We, and everyone else who works w/ dd, disagrees.
School is focused on 140 cognitive score...not caring about MR-range
adaptive & soc-emo scores, nor her SPD, language, or oral motor issues.
They told me dd was "gifted" to which her neuro & psych were
apalled...she doesn't even tell me when she has a bm in her diaper, can't
take a shirt off, etc.
This SD seems to not know the law at all...we had our IEP meeting, which
was recessed (in May, end of school) & we meet again in 2 weeks (when
school starts up again). The recess was decided upon b/c we disagree
with them, and to arrange these observations. I fear if dd is having a
great day & happens to do well, then we are SOL. Their initial
recommendation was to put her into a regular program & when she was
kicked out, they'd enroll her no problem (the SD's ST even told me she
was sure we'd be back in August after dd tried a preschool & it didn't
work out). This is the same gem of a district that's had all the articles
written about lately...so it's not shocking. But oh so aggravating. We're
not even saying they HAVE to put her in PPCD, we'd even like for them to
provide her w/ an 1:1 in a regular preschool setting, or an inclusive type
program--to this they say this district doesn't have either type of
program. The other issue is dd's feeding tube, most private preschool's
don't have the staff or feel comfortable dealing w/ it. Daycare is so
expensive, and I know really isn't the right place for dd. Grrrr....
Okay, guess I did get started...lol..sorry. Thanks for letting me rant
(okay, you had no choice, but still...). Man, oh man. Can't they just believe you? What type of program is it?Good luck--I'm hoping you get what you and DD need and deserve!! I just wanted to wish you good luck and that if your dd meltsdown that
it isn't going to be as bad as you expect it to be. Keep us
posted.
