I know how hard it is to find good care.  I'll be sending positive vibes your way.Sending you some good  luck vibes AAAAAAAAAH!
I have hardly been around on this board this week. Our dreamy/perfect
babysitter is going back to WI to finish her senior year in NINE DAYS! I have
been searching for a replacement for nearly a month and have come up
totally empty handed.
I am in the middle of my term in school, and am totally DESPERATE. I'm
freaking out. I can't drop any more classes....I don't care what you
wonderful people do: voodoo, prayers, good wishes, rain dances....Help me
visualize a lovely, warm, and engaged sitter coming into our lives this week.
I won't cry until I have to...I swear.
Thanks,
Kat

Good luck!!!!

Sending some pixie dust your way!!

Really feel for you, and hope you find that special sitter SOON!Thank You, Moms-who-get-it!
I have NO family in town. My best friends all have mutiple children, infants,
or full-time jobs (wasn't always this way....) I am really worried, but keeping
a healthy sense of optimism alive. If I have to drop another class after the
deadline, I'm scared I will be put on academic "probation".

Keep on singing and hoping for us!
You guys are THE BEST!I hope Mary Poppins shows up soon.  Did you get your perfect sitter through www.sittercity.com btw?I was still working full time up until the birth of my second son.  My babysitter was my everything!  I'll be praying, thinking positive thoughts & crossing my fingers for you!Crossing my fingers for  you

Good Luck I know how rough it is trying to find reliable safe help.

You mentioned an au pair agency that helps families with special needs children.  Maybe others would be interested in the name of it.

I found out today that the US government rules are pretty strict on this:

"Au pairs are not to be placed in families with a special needs child, so identified by the family, unless the au pair has specifically identified prior experience, skill, or training in caring for special needs children and the host family has reviewed and acknowledged the stated prior experience, skills, or training in writing. Please refer to the regulations for details." (from the State Department website).
