Listening Programs for feeding problems | Autism PDD

Share

We use therapeutic listening but not to address feeding issues. I've seen subtle improvements. It's so hard to say what is working since we do so much therapy and so many interventions. My son loves it. But, I record responses and behavioral changes with each CD (It changes every 2 weeks). The changes seem to line up with what the CD is supposed to target. It's not a miracle or a cure, but I feel like it helps regulate and then opens the door to use new skills.

I have a friend who is certified in TLP and it is different, but I don't know much about it.

i used it for my son for about 6 months, mostly for speech. he had lots of up and down,. the only thing i hated about this music therapy was he became so load and hyper.

and i quiet in about 3 months

i havent notice that much change on him either. good luck and let us know whats going on.

We are considering doing some sound therapy for my son to help with his sensory integration and hopefully his eating issues (will only eat dry crunchy food, tactile and oral defensivenss).  The agency offers 2 different programs - The Listening Program and Therapeutic Listening.  Does anyone have experience with either of them? Good/Bad? Did you see any improvement?lili, if you noticed behavior changes that were not good, you should tell the person working with your child. They can change the music protocol for you. Also, this is not considered music therapy. Music therapy is an established profession, not mearly using CDs for specific purposes. Music therapy is administed by a board certified music therapist, not an OT or other person.

My son's sensory issues have improved so much. it's almost like we have "one last hurdle" to get over and the therapist thinks the listening therapy will help get us there. The OT says that my son's sensory issues combined with his temperment have made him always want to have control and that eating is usually the last thing to come around as it's one of the things they really can control. And, he only likes dry, crunchy food as it seems like he needs the input so hopefully if we get him more balanced he won't feel like he needs so much input from food.

I think we're going to give it a try - now I just have to figure out which program sounds better for him.  And, how to find two 30 minute blocks of time for him to listen to it!

My son listens while he is eating frequently or in the car if you can get them to keep the headphones on.
