Yea, I thought it was interesting. Testing genetic AND environment.
Very interesting. Almost makes me wish I was having another baby. lol
I am fascinated with this because I have 3 kids who have not really spoken much before age 2. My dd is PDDNOS and I believe the boys are NT, but they all have sensory issues to some extent. The boys' are just more mild.
Wow, I'm very interested in what the findings might be.
DAVIS, Calif. (KCBS) -- Researchers at UC Davis are launching a new study to try to find the markers of autism risk.
Scientists at the school's MIND Institute are enrolling mothers of autistic children who are planning on becoming pregnant again, said molecular biologist Isaac Pessah. The markers of autism risk in babies-learning early signs project or MARBLES focuses on whether there are environmental triggers in autism cases, he said.
Researches will not only test the genetic makeup of a MARBLES mom but also her home, the air she breathes to the dust in her carpet -- any and all possible environmental influences.
The study will last five years.
Hopefully they'll find lots of volunteers to participate. It sounds like a unique research opportunity.
