No, Benny does'nt watch Max and Ruby and don't know why he really does it, sometimes I think he thinks it funny or something.
Okay, this may be a weird question - but does he watch Max and Ruby on Noggin? My ds NEVER did the one-word thing until this past summer. We didn't get Noggin where we used to live and now that he has watched Max and Ruby - BOTH my kids sometimes do this and it drives me NUTS! So, we have instituted a rule of "no talking like Max - that is baby talk." I usually only have to warn him once - but there are those days...My son does this sometimes when he is trying to express his wants, for ex. when he wants juice he'll just say,"juice" or " want juice" instead of saying, May I have some juice, please? It's not until I tell him you know how to talk use your words and what bothers me is that he doe'nt do this all the the time, he chooses to do it? It just kinda worries me b/c if he were to do this with other people they would think he's rude or does'nt have any manners. Can anyone relate/ have any suggestions to stop this? He might find it difficult to get the words out. You could compromise by saying he says just "juice please", that way he's being polite without struggling to get a long sentence out. My 16yo son does the same thing. Sometimes it seems as though talking actually hurts him. He'll tell me, "No talking...it's too much." Of course, sometimes he talks so much I can't STAND it. Who knows why this happens. Welcome to autism.
