I went to an autism event with about 80 asd kids there and lots of
activities. I'd say about 70% of kids went into meltdown mode at some
point - from huge screaming & rolling in the street ones to little
stomping-feet highpitched whining ones. I know this is weired to say
when you know those kids were overstimulated and having a hard time -
but it was the best sound. Noone minded, no strange looks. Like my
family had finally found it's home planet. (And yes, my ds had a bit of a
tantrum too. Can't wait to go again.)how did you find this event and do you know if they have them in the dfw,Texas area?
micki,
Isn't it great to be part of something where you 'fit in'.
I go to an autism playgroup once a week and its been the best thing. At one time or another one of our kids is having a meltdown and nobody blinks an eye other than to say 'Oh its your turn today'. No judgement, no rolling eyes.

I live in a more populated area and it might beI want to go to one of these!!!!!!
We never go anywhere except grocery stores - I would love to go to something with other ASD families.
