Burden of Proof Bill - A5396 | Autism PDD

I've posted twice on this. I'm hoping that parents RESPOND!!!! It is summer, so so many sped parents are VERY busy. BUt if we don't get Gov. Spitzer to sign this, we will have really BOLD CSE's on our hands. I went to a CSE this week as the parents' advocate and the CSE CHair SUGGESTED the parents file for Due Process if they didn't like the decision of the CSE. This NEVER used to happen, but now, since the Shaefer v Weast SUpreme Court decision took away the right of the parents to NOT bear the burden of proof, Districts feel they really don't have to follow the law. In fact, this otherwise very nice CSE Chair SAID in the meeting, "well, that's just the law." It just goes to show that Sped Administrators think their lobby is going to be strong enough to win. PLEASE contact the Governor and "vote" for him to sign this into law.
