My Baby can swim! | Autism PDD

He did it!  We have been working on it slowly this year.  But, he is so independent that he had to call the shots.  So the last few days I haven't even suggested he take his swimmers off, I let him.  But, mostly he was still gliding and not using his arms.  Today though, he just took off.  He swam all the way across the pool!  Then Mr. Independent was telling me "Go over there!"  Let me do it by myself!  He didn't want me any where near him.  One time he said Mommy shut your eyes and go over there!"  He did great though.  The only thing I have to keep reminding him to do is to shut his mouth.  He gets this huge gaping grin on his face because he is so proud of himself and I keep having to remind him to shut his mouth so he won't choke.  We had to get out because it started to thunder, but we are just waiting til Dad gets home and the weather clears so he can show off.  I told him he is the same age I was when I learned to swin which is five.  Then I felt bad because my daughter said "Lucky!"  She didn't learn how to swim until she was 8.  I told her though that we didn't have a pool until she was 6, so that was great!  It took him two years just like it did her.  And I have to say this year she has learned how to swim under water really well.  So I can brag about both of them.  I am a proud Mom!That's awesome!Great Job! totally awsome

Congratulations on that milestone.
