Hi, my son had a problem with bm also. He pee'ed on potty fine, but it took 2 months at least before he would attempt bm on potty. The only thing i can say to you is it will take time. He will get it eventually. I used alot of positive reinforcers with my son. Potty charts, and candy for immediate rewards. I don't know if it was those that helped or just time. Good luck
He is so relaxed and in his element while swimming, but he can't make such a mess much longer! Any advice????
My son also had a hard time relaxing on the potty, and we finally made a breakthrough when we let him sit backwards on the toilet, so he could hold onto the tank -- it was a sensory issue (gravitational insecurity). We also gave him a hand-held noise-making toy to fidget with and help him relax.
Here's my list of potty resources, in case you haven't seen it before (ignore the yellow highlighting). The first article listed covers sensory issues, so you might want to check that out. It could very well be the reason why your child has trouble relaxing.
Good luck with everything.
