Has your dc ever said this??? | Autism PDD

None of my kids has ever said this to me (and Jason doesn't talk), but I have often heard my heartbeat, as a child and as an adult. Doesn't seem to be anything to it, though.  :) I've had an EKG (or ECG? don't remember) done, and it was totally normal.  It's a little unnerving, though! Evie39303.3157986111YES.  I hear my pulse in my ears all the time -- doesn't everyone?I don't hear my pulse in my ears all the time, but I do when I have done something really physically exerting. I wondered also if that is what she is referring to. I hear it once in a while as well. It is usually at night when I am about to go
to sleep or in the middle of the night.

Adam more recently has mentioned his heart beat to me.. I just thought it was the age that he is at. My older kids about this age did simular things.

I think it is just auditory processing stuff -- I think it IS typically audible, but most people are more able to ignore it ... ? Is it just me?My dd was telling me tonight that she can hear her own heartbeat...that she hears it all the time...I am a little freaked out about this.hmm, that is a little odd...

Could be true:) I have heard some kids are so sensitive to sound that they hear many things we dont...sometimes really far away.  Put your ear to her heart and see if it sounds booming or erratic..if it sounds normal & good rhythm, pace.. I wouldnt be too concerned...does it bother her? Very interesting:)

I'd also suspect that she's possibly not entirely sure what she's saying, that perhaps hearing a heartbeat is something echoed from a song, and that always is too strong a word.

When I was 4 or 5 years old, I remember hearing my heartbeat when my head was on my pillow.  I was convinced it was the "silver soldiers" marching to make holes in my teeth!

Odd, but now that you mention it, I recall having the same experience. The sound was so loud it often wouldn't let me sleep. I don't recall thinking anything about any "silver soldiers", but I'm sure that in my very young mind and in certain moments during my semi-consciousness state, I must have imagined some similar sort of illusion. The sound was really intense whenever I was suffering from an ear infection.

I agree with everyone else that it is probably past of an auditory hypersensitivity....but being the type of person I am...I would have the child eval. by a cardiologist just to make sure that the reason he is "hearing" it is not because it is beating too hard or fast due to a heart condition.  That is just me though.  Ali had a "benign circulation condition"  as an infant and her ped. said not to worry but I did and I took her to a cardiologist.  She said it was benign but also that Ali had a somewhat smaller than normal sized heart.  She said she was fine but just be watchful of her and if the circulation problem continued past 2 ti bring her back.  I do not mean to worry you but for your peace of mind that is what I would do.  Of course, I have good insurance and do not need referrals so it was not a big deal to take Ali to another dr. just in case.Just wanted to add that I typically don't have any other kind of auditory sensitivity. In fact, usually ANY other member of my family is likely to hear something before I do (of course they all DO have an auditory sensitivity). hmmm... at that age I had a thing where I would take my hand and place it over my heart to feel it pump. I liked it, I could hear it slightly too, i doubt its anything to be concerned with.I was told another word for auditort sensitivity is hyper acusis. We rid some it in Daniel with AIT cd's done at home under a ST. I, like Snoopywoman, can hear/feel my pulse in my ears after some physical exertion.  Interesting! I can hear it too, if I want to hear it. I can hear viberations from the road too

Sometimes I can hear and feel my pulse, especially in my head and chest. Was told this was due to my anemia. While most people have to check their wrist or neck to count their pulse I can just look at my hair. It pulses too! Does everyone's do that? Never thought to ask before.

I can hear my heartbeat sometimes in my ears, usually when im sick/ear ache, or after exersion (spelled right?) . Id get her checked out tho just to be sure because maybe her heart is palpitating or something, mine does this fluttering thing once ina while or pumps real hard for now reason. Sorry but im a worry wart and I take my son aaall the time to the doctor for everything. Better safe then sorry I think! It could be normal, but I know when I can hear my own heart beating, its my blood pressure. I have high blood pressure, so thats normal for me for the most part.
