Naltrexone (new drug) | Autism PDD

Share

I was researching the other day, and attending some other forums, which I do daily.  And I stumbled upon something I thought I would share the word about.  Now normally, I am totally against all meds, especially since I have tried many of these on one of  my kids, and none of them worked in any appreciable manner.  Plus, my children are now symptom-free on supplements and diet.  Now, if I remove the supplements, the symptoms return, thus I am still studying for the "cure".  But anyhow, I did stumble on an old drug being found to have new uses and helping all kinds of people in miraculous ways.  Apparently the drug helps those who have diseases related to immune dysfunction, viruses, and toxin overload (especially from MSG).  Autism is being effectively treated by addressing nutrition, toxins and pathogesns, thus that has to be the cause.  Anyhow, this drug addresses this.  It is called low dose naltrexone (LDN), and is being used in autistic children, and with many other diseases with much success.  Of course, not everyone is relieved of all their symptoms, but some are.  I just thought I would mention this in case anyone is interested.  Its cheap and any doctor can prescribe it.  If you want it, you may have to bring in some information on the web to your doc because it is not being promoted to the docs from the drug companies.  The drug companies will probably lose money on this drug because many people that I have been reading about are dropping all kinds of expensive medications and using just the cheap LDN because of its high success rate.

I will add I am not using this at this time (you never know the future) because my kids and I are symptom-free on supplements, but I realize not everyone has time and money to research as much as I do.

Yes, I have heard it works miracles for some and nothing for others.  Odd, isn't it?

http://www.lowdosenaltrexone.org/  This is a pretty informative site - used for various immune related problems.

I used the transdermal form on my son and the oral form for my daughter for several months.  I noticed no improvement with either of them, but my son did have a negative side effect that didn't clear up after a few weeks, such as his problem sleeping.

However, I have heard other parents rave about it when used on their children.

I strongly agree.
