Wow... I thought you had to have a dx to apply. How do you apply?
Thanks,
Kelly
no dx to apply. wow that's great. where i'm from they almost always deny you first and then make you reapply. that's great for you. it should help a lot. take care.mom2carloI applied in april so it took four months to get presumptive ssi I as of yet to have a diagnosis for my son.
Stephanie
You don't need a dx to apply, its just that it is more helpful. I do know with a pdd-nos dx vs. a autism dx, they will recertify the child three years later under the pdd-nos dx. SSI tends to look at a autism dx as a life long disability where as the pdd-nos dx has room for improvement.

With my dd, they sent her for an evaluation before approval, but it still only took a few months. That is so great that you got that pre approval. I think with that you should already get medicaid, but you need to ask them to be sure. From what I was told, as long as you receive even one dollar a month for any form of SSI, you will get medicaid. And that must be a good sign for you to get your SSI on a pre approval basis.

WOW, THATS PROMISING. I WOULD APPLY FOR THE MEDICAID UNDER THAT PRETENSE AND JUST MAKE SURE YOU TELL THE CASE WORKER,WHAT IT IS. I AM SURE THAT THEY WOULD PROBABLY ALREADY BE FAMILIAR WITH IT, IN YOUR AREA, YOU CANT BE THE FIRST. ALSO, M/C IS RETROACTIVE FOR LIKE 4 MONTHS, SO ANY MED PROCEDURES THAT HE HAS HAD WILL BE REIMBURSED FROM THE DATE YOU APPLY, SO JUMP ON THAT.
? HOW LONG AGO DID YOU APPLY FOR SSI. I DID ON 7/21 AND I AM WAITING. THEY SAID IT SHOULD BE 3-4 MONTHS FOR APPROVAL.

Has anyone ever got presumptive ssi???? My son got his first check the other day and I was told he was approved for presumptive ssi as his ssi case has not been approved but they think he will be approved once all the medical diagnosis is done.
Do you get medicaid with presumptive ssi? Is it any difference then ssi or not really?
I understand he will get checks for six months and hopefully it will be approved by then.
My son does not have a diagnosis yet only most likely autism.
