Ok, I admit it, I occasionally listen to Howard Stern on my way to work or school. I DO switch it back and forth between Howard Stern and NPR, which makes me possibly the strangest radio listener ever, but it works for me.
Anyway, this morning on Howard Stern, they were talking about how mecury levels in NYC are getting out of control, and it is killing birds. They said the mercury is in the water and the air. Robin is going to getting a heavy metals test.
Now I know it is Howard Stern, and not super reputable for news, but if I have learned ANYTHING over the past 5 years, it is that you can usually get the best info from non-mainstream news. And I have tried to find stuff about this online, with not much luck.
Has anyone else heard about this? If mercury is in the air that much, and the water, what does THAT mean for our kids? And could that have contributed? Have we messed up the earth THAT badly?
I just didn't know if anyone else knew anything about this...
I DID find this-Pretty interesting: http://www.washtimes.com/upi-breaking/20050314-052518-7615r. htm
Okay first I wasn't gonna reply because it was on Howard Stern, lol. I thought he was going to satellite radio anyways? As far as the mercury and pollution, etc. in the water and the air, you can thank your Bush Administration for that. He laxed the controls over it and made some companies exempt from the policies. So it wouldn't surprise me.

Being from the northeast, I'm familiar with this. what is happening is the coal plants in the upper midwest ?are releasing mercury into the air, the jetstream is carrying it up into the NE ( stern is out of NYC) the fed govt is well aware of what is going on, the EPA issued an emergency call to action, the current administration (bush) has said they see the problems and promised to rectify the situation. they gave the companies til the year 2020 to update their facilities. Gotta love big business......Wouldn't Mercury be considered an environmental toxin? http://kidshealth.org/parent/firstaid_safe/home/environ.html
