Sorry you're having so much trouble with your district. How frustrating! I would get an advocate too. Good luck to you!It is tough when you are doing all the right things and the SD lets you down.
I hope you get results with the advocate. After all this time, I'm finally at the point of no longer having faith in the school district we're in. I had been told at the end of the school year we'd have a new IEP meeting at the end of August by the outgoing special ed director. I'm now being told we are not having one until after Daniel starts school in September and that it won't be scheduled until they see him the first day of classes.
This means going back to 2 days a week of school from 4 during summer school. I can't get ahold of the new special ed director and she hasn't returned my phone calls. (I also found out she's going on vacation next week.)
So thehusbandguy and I have given up on putting any faith in this school district. We are getting an advocate ASAP (next week we start with the state resource center and hopefully will have an advocate before the end of the week after that). I'm also going to start looking into an educational lawyer that specializes in all of this. (I wrote a letter the first week of June while school was still in session for a new IEP so they are about to hit the end of their "30 days" without scheduling a new meeting.) So yeah, thanks for everyone who has given a support and advice and hope for some more..
