This sounds like a question for Tzoya lol. She's the NYS guru. You might want to put her name in the subject line so you draw her attention. This is just my opinion, but I'd go ahead and take that placement for now since it's the school you want, but keep fighting to get her in a morning slot. Why does the school system have to make things so difficult for us? I'm sure they were busy, but still...no excuse for them not enrollng her when there were lots of slots open.
You're right Mary, I'm gonna change the subject line. Maybe Tzoya can help.
My only other option right now would be to keep Jessie at the school she's in (but it would be preschool classes) because they have mornings avaliable, but I just feel like the other school offers higher quality services. It's a gamble....
My dd is making the transition from EI to preschool next month. In May, my dh and I began looking at schools for our dd to attend. There was one we really liked in particular and I pushed for a CPSE meeting as soon as we could because I wanted to make sure my dd could go to this school and get everything she needed. Our CPSE meeting was June 18th, and at that time we were told there were lots of openings and we were all set. That's where she would go and she would get her OT, PT and speech.
Well just this week I got a call from the school district saying SORRY, NO OPENINGS at the school we wanted. WHAT?? I was shocked and extremely upset. A month and a half later and we suddenly have to start over? Why wasn't she immediately registered for that school after our meeting? Most places are near full at this point. Well after a lot of pestering, they did find an opening at the school but it's in the PM , not AM like we wanted and she will only be able to get 2x/week of OT rather than the 3x she was supposed to get. (The AM/PM thing is a big deal because she still naps and I'm afraid she'd be miserable the whole time she'd be at school).
Should I just accept this? I'm still outraged and feel so screwed over. I want what I thought I was getting for her in the first place. I don't want to settle, especially since I feel we did everything we were supposed to and did it early. Placed a call to the NYS special ed dept to ask advice but haven't heard back yet. Have to make a decision fast before there aren't ANY openings for her......
