Hyperbaric Chamber update | Autism PDD

Hi, I was a little nervous about posting after all the stuff that went on the last time someone posted about hyperbaric chamber therapy. My dd was selected for an NIH study doing 20 hours of hyperbaric hard chamber therapy. This was done under a doctor's supervision and it was (and still is) a positive experience for my child. A local psychologist did an ADOS, ADI-R and CARS before and then after the study. It is hard to explain exactly the changes, but dd seems to use language more to explain herself and situations, more aware of her surroundings. I joked that it made her "sweeter", but she is much nicer now. It is like she became more mature. The psych who did the post testing told me she ended up not on the spectrum on the ADOS and CARS. The study was only to show trends after 20 hours, but the NIH recommends 40 hours and many DANs recommend much more. I decided that I would continue for another 20 since we has seen positive results and 40 was recommended. i will post again after the next 20. I have been told that most of the kids in the study did show some improvement. The psychologist (not associated with the hyperbaric chamber center) said that what was most exciting was that the changes were in areas that were hard to teach. Many of the kids ended up being more motivated to play with other children (never an issue with my dd). I realize that HBOT is a little out there, but I found an opportunity and decided to try it. So far I do not regret my decision at all. Thanks for posting that. I for one, appreciate your candor and willingness to
share information. I have been thinking about this therapy for a while now
so it is very helpful to me. I have also heard that 40 was the minimum for
positive results. I think I will give it ago. I found one that you can take a
game boy and laptop inside.
