heh, i live right here on lake ontario, walk like 500' and im their, i dont swim in it a ton anymore, and they dont recoment u eat much fish, its pretty bad, and because all of the other great lakes spill into lake ontario I read it is indeed the most polluted with mercury. Also, about 20 miles East of here is the second oldest nuclear facility in this nation, Fitz Patrick, which recently renewed its licsence thru the NRC (this is good, as my father works their) but they site that often the hot water coming from this facility is a pollutant itself.
Its rough, but i dont see much being done in the near future to curb this problem, Earth is becoming increasingly polluted with many wastes, which will linger for centuries in some cases.

U.S. Senator Dick Durban has a campaign encouraging people to contact BP and demand that they stop polluting Lake Michigan. There is a prepared letter you can e-mail to CEO Bob Malone. Here's the link:

This is out of hand! After 2001, someone passed a Federal law easing up companies and decreased the amount of Fed checks a year and amount of fines. See, the outcome. Increase of Poisened food imported from China, CA, poisous lead on kid toys, and tones of dumping in the US. Also, I grew up playing on the dunes in IN. Before I was born they turned a huge poration into a state park to protect the area and they removed a bunch of peoples homes bec of wild life. If the water is killing the plants and everything elise, than how are you sposed to protect it? Also, there are plants only found growing at the dunes in MI and IN. amberwaves39296.5310069444
