We stopped posting this thread- so I thought it was time to start again.
This week DS loves being a monster. He pulls a blanket over his head
and growls at me. It's supposed to be scary but I can't help but laugh!
Well I take the good with the bad... yesterday I was driving my girls and nephew to their swim class and as we came over the hill by the high school where we go Zach screamed SWIM, SWIM. I was like yes, this is where swimming is. But your not swimming today. This was not the answer he wanted to hear. Melt down then started and continued until we got home but it was great hearing him yell SWIM, I know now that he loved his swimming class that I took him to over the last two weeks. We are going to do it again but not until next spring. We just have too much going on this winter and his swim time would be past his bedtime.
Well right now Gabe is teaching Jeffrey how to count up pennies, nickels, dimes, and quarters, lol. He is also teaching him how to spin a quarter. At least they are getting along together right now, lol.

I just love these stories about everyone's kids...seems we're so consumed sometimes with the difficult parts that we don't get to relish in these little (big)happenings!
We had an amazing week, not only did my son finally try pepperoni pizza...he said "there's a pepperoni pizza with my name on it" which is AMAZING because a comment like that would normally make him literally look for his name on a pizza! He also decided to try some strawberry yogurt (no he didn't like it, but he tried it) AND he actually ate a hot dog!!! (2nd time in his almost 9 years of life) Normally we'd not be thrilled about kids eating hot dogs, but with his horrible habits it's like a filet mignon!!!
Can't wait to hear more stories!!! It's so encouraging!
when we got upstairs, he was splashing in the water, singing the commercial jingle of "water country" a water amusement park in NH. - no imaginative play MY ARSE LOL
Eileen....LMAO....I'm sorry that this happened but your right....that's pretty good imaginative play there..LMAO

For the past couple of weeks when Nick gets off the bus he comes blazing through the door and brings me his back pack he unzips it to show me any of his art work or projects he has worked on at school. Then he will say "good boy Nicky" or "nice work Nicky" then he will look at me and say "tell me good boy mommy" it is so funny he is prompting me to talk like we do to him!!!!! It is also great that he remembers that he has work in his backpack to show me....considering he used to drop the back pack in the driveway and go play as soon as he got off the bus!!!

i dont know if this would be considered a cute story, but its definitely the highlight of my week!Earlier today I was in the checkout line at the supermarket with Quinn when 3 teenage girls came up to us and asked me If I know where to find bags of ice. I said gee......I'm sorry I don't........so next they asked a teenage boy employee who was a standing in back of us and he said he didn't know either.....So then my little Quinn says............"I know where the ice is then points to the isle across from the checkout and says you go down that isle...............It was soo cute......and he was right! I was working out yesterday. Exercise is my best stress reducer
so I recently convereted a patio room to a home gym. I was doing
crunches I was finishing up what I thought was my last set when my
daughter yelled at me, "UP! DOWN!" I looked at her in her tank
top and shorts, little belly hanging out while she drank chocolate milk
and got one more set. People say we look just alike so I had to
keep going. that little belly of hers is too cute.
Luke is singing "Row row row your boat" and humming the rest of the tune.
He's also humming about 5 or 6 other children's tunes. I love it!
I posted this on another board but I will post it here too. Just the other day I caught Adam grunting so I said to him. " hey lets go pooh pooh in the potty" and he looked at me and said..."hey...no pooh in the potty...lets go get a new diaper"...LMAO I had to laugh

Hi,
my 3 y.o. son Nicky, who has been diagnosed with PDD-NOS last year, got a scatch on his hand a few weeks ago. So, of course, I gave a kiss on his boo-boo to make it feel better, explaining to him why I was doing this.
Well... last week, I caught my thumb in a sliding door and my thumbnail turned blue. When Nicky saw this, he gave it a kiss and said "boo-boo". It was the first time he was showing a connection with us (and empathy!)!
Little victories a step at a time..... My 13yo has been sick all week and so quiet. In fact they were all sick
and I felt guilty that I was enjoying the peace. Well I put him to bed
and he told me "I Love You Mum" for the first time without me saying it
first. And no I changed my mind, I'm not feeling guilty anymore that
I've enjoyed this week.
we too take the good with the bad, connor decided to flood the bathroom ( usually on his favorite to do list but last night it was horrible, we had to turn off all the electricity in the house due to the fact that we had water pouring from the light fixtures in the kitchen below, Hubby and I were downstairs making dinner when we we're pelted with water coming from the ceiling - nice to know it was toilet water) when we got upstairs, he was splashing in the water, singing the commercial jingle of "water country" a water amusement park in NH. - no imaginative play MY ARSE LOL anyway, the kids slept over the grandparents and hubby and I had a nice romantic candle lit dinner of half boiled pasta (al dente) and the house did not burn down , it was a win win situation. I'll take those lemons and make a nice glass of lemonade, with a shot of raspberry stoli, thank you!!!
Here is another story about Nicky:
We had hired a "behavioral therapist" to help with Nicky's lack of communication, which, you all know, creates frustrations with our children (more like a volcanic eruption, isn't it?).
Anyways, she was minded to teach him with the SPECS systems how to request juice, a cookie, etc...
After about one hour, Nicky finally understood what was expected of him and complied and was picking up the card, handing it over to the therapist and receiving a piece of cookie in exchange. We were so excited about this improvement!!!!
Now, here is the funny part: once she left, we tried to repeat the experience. of course, Nicky gave us the card with the cookie on it, and we gave him a piece of cookie in exchange. He then took the card back from my hand, walked to the garbage can and dropped it in there!!!!! Nicky was 2 1/2 years-old when he did this! We are still laughing our heads off with this one!
Of course, that day was the end of the SPECS system in our house
Goodness, I love this child so much....
Hi I love this thread, our kid are so freakin' adorable!!! even when they are flooding our house lol, so sorry about that Eileen! hugs!
Nicholas is now potty trained and doing really well w/ his talking and so lately he'll go to the bathroom and stand there and if it takes a second or two for the pee pee to come, he'll look down at it and say "com'on!" lol we crack up!
He also has been jumping on the bed and landing on his bum, then bounces back up onto his feet...little gymnist I swear...well I've witnessed this quite a bit and a few times he nearly fell off the bed and I'd say "whoa!" He thought that was very funny, so now he'll pretty he's crashing onto the bed or couch and say "whoooaaa!" and fall back and crack up always making sure I'm looking and laughing! I just love that kid!
hugs,
Ali

I'm a newbie but I love this thread. I posted to the "tell us your autism story thinking it meant stories like these". Somewhere I read on here in a different thread that their child was sitting the wrong way in the class circle and the teacher told the child to turn around. The kid got up, turned completely around and sat back down again with his back to the circle. I can't think about that without delight!
I wanna hear more!

Paul hates to go shopping with me but we gotta do what we gotta do. He tries everything to get us off track, he tries to make deals about how many stores and how many items in the store are we going to buy. I deflect all of this and stick to my tasks. Well, today after we got back in the car at the store he shouted "Eureka, I got it!" with his finger stabbing the air, "I am allergic to shopping!". He's allergice to so many things and we carefully avoid them so....pretty smart, eh?Amanda has been coming up to my office with me this week. There is a new building on sight where the HR department is and the manager of the company insurances took Amanda with her. After working on all of her claims these past 7 years she feels she knows Amanda well enough. Amanda is having such a good time that she will even go to the bathroom for her.*laughsss* Karrie that is TOOO cute cause we are about to start potty training Zach... hahaha that's funny.
Zach has been running around the house with these fake vampire teeth in his mouth acting like the tiger from Jungle book.... But the funnier part of this story is that.... My mom has dentures.... So Zach will pick up her dentures, hand them to her and have her chomp them together in her hand, then he does it with the vampire teeth.... cracks us up.
As some of you know my husband and I are seperated right now and he is only permitted supervised visitation right now (he has been to everyone).
Well you know how we sometimes talk around our children and don't realize that there listening? I have been guilty of this especially with Takoda because he is so quiet I forget he's in the room.
Monday when I took him to visitation the first thing he said to his dad was, "I want you to be good so you can be not grounded anymore and you can come home."
I never used the term grounded but it amazed me that he had figured the situation out so well. I will have to be more careful in the future. Nelle
One day when Lil J was around 7 years old I stopped by work on a
Saturday to finish up a report for my supervisor. I didn't think
anyone else would be there but my supervisor came in. I was
standing in front of my supervisor's desk talking to him when out of
the corner of my eye I saw Lil J run and dive on the couch behind
me. I turned and looked at Lil J he was happy as can be, then he
ran out of the office. I turned back around and continued talking
and Lil J did it again this time he was laughing. I finished my
conversation with my supervisor (he just smiled) then Lil J and I left
and went to McDonalds and the park. I laughed so hard because of
the smile on his face, it was like he was telling me it's time to go
and have some fun--not be at work. Smart little boy.
