Sarah believes in magic:) | Autism PDD

Last night Sarah wanted to put on a magic show with "magic hat" and wand...she introduced herself and did the magic words while tapping her hat..and when the "bunny" didnt appear she was real upset:(

She saw the little boy Shawn do it on Barney..and he had magic stars and everything...she said I need to go get her some magic like I could buy it at the store.

I tried to teach her how to sneak a plush bunny in the hat..she wanted no part of that "lie" and wanted a REAL  bunny!  OH dear!

I decided the truth was best in his case, also about the tooth fairy, but waited until this year to spill the beans about the Easter Bunny (since he was talking to the Easter Bunny in his head like you talk to God in prayer).  He still believes in Santa, though.

OF COURSE Sarah believes in magic.  So does Tuhina!  How could they NOT? LOL.

Didn't some advertiser get in trouble for that, several years ago -- a doll that FLIES or something?

hmm.... i rmember when I was little, i cant remember if it was for Christmas or b-day, but i got a little majic kit, had a bunch of stuff in their and instructions how to make it disapear or whatever, i never found out how to use it, cause all i saw was the wand, and assumed the wand contained the magic power, needless to say it did not work, i was convinced it was broken, this may have been around 6-7, and then it was time for me to learn that their is no such thing as magic, it was always an illusion, i never played with that again, in fact, this is the first time ive thought about that kit in a very very long time, dont even know its fate, its rough, u dont wanna ruin things like santa and easter bunny, but they will get so upset if they cant use magic, i guess we have all been their, lucky, after learning that majic was fake, i still had santa and the easter bunny until some older kid ruined that for me at age 8, heh.Come on over and meet Jasper, budding magician! He has a hat, cape, and
wand--it is the ONLY dress up he will ever do. He often performs MAGIC for
me--very funny and cute, and just a little bit "off" in that he sometimes gets
mad at me for not knowing it's just pretend.

But, I say it's GREAT that Sarah believes in magic--very appropriate for kids.
. You might want to let her know that not everyone has magic powers,
though

Jasper often asks me if things are "real". I tell him some things are just fake,
or tricks--but, somethings are really MAGIC! (and they really are! )

I'll have to post some photos of Jasper the Magnificent!thank you shelley fo your advise about speech

Abbra cadabra..calamazoo..PLEASE little bunny come out of my hat..tap tap..looked inside and just pouted:(  I think she did this ritual 50x before she gave up.  I tried to convince her it was a magic "TRICK" but she kept telling me it was real..today she is more into reality..I told her her sister was same and wanted Barney magic bag and would cry because she couldnt grab the magic stars from the TV screen..this was my oldest nt child so I know its normal.. I just felt bad for her...havent discussed the tooth fairie or santa yet..I will probably be truthful though if she ever asked to the truth..I dont want her to hate me for lying to her later in life.
