That's very interesting Julie B - thanks!
No, you're not crazy. There's a movement to return to whole foods, e.g. fats and oils, diet. The cookbook is called Nourishing Traditions, I've watched a video of a woman named Sally Fallon that talks about the studies done by a Celeveland dentist regarding oral health in remote countries. The study found that where the people ate high fat and whole food diets, there was no tooth decay or dental abnormalities- even through the people had NEVER brushed their teeth! The diet included things high in omega -3's and unpastuerized milk and butter. The lean cuts of meat were given to the dogs; organ meats and fish eggs were preferred. The gist of the video is that oral health translates into overall health.
