I thought insurance companies already had access to the medical information concerning the claims they already paid. This sounds very suspicious.Once insurance got our dd diagnosis of autism they refused all speech therapies, even her MRI and ABA therapy all had to be paid out of pocket..be careful:) Do a search for your state for the "Department of Insurance". Call the consumer services division (or whatever term they use for consumer related problems) and speak to someone who can advise you of your rights. You can also file a complaint with the DOI against the insurance company and the company HAS to provide a written explanation to both you and the DOI outlining their reasoning for their line of questioning and requests.
I know with our insurance company, you can file an appeal. Of course, you would need to provide some info to present your case.....I haven't had to do that though with mine. Knock on wood! I hope you can get it straightened out.

Hi Amy,
I second what Shenom said... contact the department of insurance with your state government. I don't recall what state you live in, but some states have specific laws in place that do not allow discrimination because of an autism related diagnosis.
Regardless, each state has very specific insurance related laws... and the commissioner of insurance is an elected official. And as I understand, all complaints ARE followed up on. In the meantime, I would stall on providing any information to the company.

jeeze, i have not had inshurance since collage and I dont intend to get any for a while, exactly for that reason. They seem to just screw over their customers every oppertunity they can. President Bush I beleive is in the process, or has already passed some bill relating to autism and inshurance companys if i recall correctly, try and find out how that bill can benifit u.Hello everyone!!!!! I could use so my help!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Recently I had posted that my insurance had denied all my claims. Okay fine but now they are calling my sons therapists and when they would not give his offical diagonsis the sent me a letter requesting Joshua's medical records for the past three years saying if they do not get my permission they can not process any more of my claims. They deny me for everything any way . So why do they need his records. I am afraid they are just looking to deny me on the things that they actually pay for now like his visits with his dev pediatrician what should I do give them what they want or refuse to sign off!!!!!!!! Help please!!!!!!!!!!!! Amy Mom to Josh PDD - Nos and Jenna.
