Thanks for the response. It seems like something similar that we have in PA. Does anyone in NJ use this waiver or applied for the waiver recently as secondary coverage? I am trying to get a feel for a waiting time/list after applying for the waiver. I know in PA it took 4 weeks to get the medicaid benefits, but after this they have wrap around services (personal aide, behavior specialist and TSS for in school or home) that have a waiting list for up uo 6 months...Any experience with the application/waiting time and after this for services..
There is another parent here from NJ who seems very knowledgable, but I can't remember their username, and they haven't been on recently... Can you call the state office directly and ask them? I know it's not the same as talking to someone who's been through it all. Search NJ on these message boards and maybe you'll get some inside info. Good Luck!
I am looking for NJ parents that have secondary medicaid coverage. I am currently in PA and my daughter has secondary insurance through medicaid under the waiver (special needs MR/autism). Does anyone know, if NJ has a waiver, where parents income is not considered and does it provide complete health insurance/other benefits under medicaid?
I was told by someone that NJ does not provide any waivers like this, that is why PA is better, since regular insurance sometimes denies services for ausititic, so medicaid picks this up.
I'm not in NJ, but I think this might be what you're looking for:

Thanks for the response. The response from NJ Dept. Human Services indicates that they do not provide a waiver like PA and to contact NJ Developmental Disabilities department to see if they offer any services. So, medicaid as a secondary insurance coverage without considering parents income does not exit in NJ. This information was directly from NJ Dept. Human Services, just in case anyone else had a question.
I know some states that are passing laws that are requiring health insurance to pay up to set amount annually for autism services. Right now in PA, if the primary insurance does not pick up the service, than the secondary (medicaid picks this up). I am not sure, if NJ has this requiring insurance companies to pay up to certain amount annually.
