Thanks!
I was wondering how that was going to go and wanted to be somewhat prepared. Ill go do the questionare I know that will help ALOT! Im worried about him not being at his best too since he sometimes shuts down or just cries and gets clingy around new people when attentions on him. Thankyou so much Norway mom you always so helpful!
Seriously cute kiddo! What a cute little guy you have! I get the impression that the tests a developmental pediatrician does varies from doctor to doctor. My son has had language tests and cognitive tests, and the testing was indeed frustrating for him. He didn't see the point of answering these strangers' questions, and it's hard for him to focus on things he's not interested in. I take the poor test results with a grain of salt, because I know he's capable of more than he can prove on any test.
My son's evaluation also included the Vineland questionnaire, and you as the parent will probably also have to answer questions about your child's development and behavior. It really helps to know what kind of questions you might be asked, so you can think about them and make appropriate observations. If you haven't done so already, do the PDD questionnaire at www.childbrain.com to help you prepare.
Good luck with everything.
Ours had our evaluations from school and neurologists, and ABBLS done by our therapist, speech evals,, so he mainly focused on her behaviors and how she attended to us and engaged us in play..he set up pretend scenerios to see if she would join..he called out to her and had her look at what he was looking at/pointing at....it was over 3 hours with much of it talking to dh and I and going over all our concerns..I had a list!
