Vaccination question for new baby | Autism PDD

Share

DS #3 is six months.  My first two DS's were fully vaxed, on schedule.  No reactions.  DS #2 has Autism (never saw any correlation with Autism).  I was going to hold off on vaxing the baby until he was three but after a LOT of research decided to start vaxing very slowly, on shot at a time.  We started off with HIB and PV at six months.  No fever or anything.  But, the injection sites are raised and hot.

Is this isolated or does it mean that he is reactive to vaccinations (in a way that his brothers were not)?  I am trying to decide if I need to re-think my vaccination plans.

(Please, no lectures or flames.  I have been through a lot with my kiddos and have done a lot of research.  This has just thrown a kink in my plans.)

Thanks

Raquel

I don't think this is any indication that he is going to be more reactant than the others, but i do believe one at a time is a good idea, giving his little immune system time to adjust. just make sure the injx site doesn't stay red or hot for more than 3 days. His skin is just giving a histimine reaction, but investigate infection if it lasts too long. Acupuncture Mom39289.8416782407

Dr. Stephanie Cave wrote a book called something like "What Your Doctor May Not Tell you about Children's Vaccinations" and she describes a schedule as to what shots to give when. She is a physician who believes in getting vaccinated but she doesn't believe in giving them all at once as is common practice. You might want to check it out!

I decided to wait my daughter is 2 1/2 and I am going to slowly(since I would like her to go to preschool in December and I have other children in school) start her I have requested one show at a time no combo shots and my Dr. said that was fine.  My 15 month old has had no shots and I will wait with him also just to make sure.  My 3 1/2  year had all his shots including flu and I guess I will always wonder.  So I have decided just to wait a little.  I wish you luck with everything. Your heart will tell you what is the right thing to do for your child.

I'm not sure what to tell you. My son is not "on the spectrum" but has some "traits.' My husband and I sincerely believe the vaccines played a part in his delays - especially the flu shot. He had a bad reaction to it and his development seemed to stop progressing for about 6 months then slowly started again.

We have newborn and are struggling with what to do about vaccinating him. When i think back with my oldest, he always got a rash/eczema about a week after his shots.  We wonder if he was having a reaction to something in the shots as we learned he had many food allergies as he got older. I asked the dr about this recently and he acknowledged that he could have been having a reaction to one of the vaccine ingredients. They tell you not to give them if they are allergic to any of the ingredients but how do you know if a 2, 4, 6 month old is allergic to something as they have not usually been exposed to it yet? The more research I do about vaccines, the more hesitant I am to do them. I'm not anti-vax but I really wonder why we have to administer so many doses so young.

As of now, we may start at 6 months with DTaP. I was going to Hib but then I learned Hib is extremely rare in breastfed kids not in daycare which my son is. We already know my newborn is sensitive to soy so we're not going to do Prevnar as it contains soy protein.

I would watch closely. If you think he may be having a vaccine reaction you may want to hold off on more doses of that vaccine. I wouldn't necessarily assume it applies to all vaccines. But, I wish I had realized my son's eczema could have been caused by the vaccine and not something I ate. I drove myself crazy trying to figure out what I was doing wrong...
