As usual you come up with the goods.  I loved so many of them and had a litle cry and a chuckle. There was also one that had the slogan "I have Autism What's your excuse" but I especially liked the one "Someone with Autism makes me Proud".

can i just ask if there is anywhere online to get theses shirts?

i'm in the UK and i notice most everyone else seems to be in the US

thanks for that i'll take a look at those

I have autism t shirts, and bracelets and key chains and such but Zach doesn't although I am thinking of buying him one at Kohls that is on sale this week that says "Will trade sister for video games"

I have absolutely got to find the one that says "I have autism , what is your excuse ?" that is great!

We've had shirts made up in the past, i have many, i got alot of my own t shirts/ tank tops from www.autismlink.com then clicking on the store/merchandise. i just had one made up saying,"if your happy and you know it, flap your hands" i see it as a statement, alot of the ones that I've purchased are very piognant, the ones that i have made up are for me, kind of like saying hey, we're a ok over here. i've also made up shirts for my old co workers to wear, paying a peice every friday and donated to the local autism resource center, it grabbed alot of attention and we ended up raising well over 0.00 with other customers adding to the pot.  raising awareness is my goal. i have an autism awareness bracelet. i also used to have a puzzle piece charm that i wore on a necklace... but my necklace broke while i was cleaning out my mom's truck and the charm fell off. i cant find it anywhere.  my mother also wore a puzzle piece charm on her necklace for quite some time.

i think i'm going to save up some money and buy some tshirts. the only tshirt i have for my daughter so far is the "back off. i bite." shirt, but thats not really an autism shirt. just a warning for others.

Thanks for the input and it exactly how I feel about it, so I think that I might just have him wear it around family and home, I won't send him to school in it that's for sure!!! I found some other shirts that are for kids on the spectrum that are alot cuter like the one that says I have a cute smile, a sense of humor, lots of hugs and autism. I will have to show those to Grandma!!! But the shirt with the slingshot really does describe him LOL!!

                                                     Nita

hey nita, Carlo has one with a rocket ship on it and it says"I'm not bad I have Autism". so i do allow him to wear it, cause like karrie said the one you have has a naugty thing on it. I do notice that when he does wear it, if he's having a meltdown, and people see his shirt, the dirty looks aren't there as much nor the smart remarks. but again it's your own decision.hope this help some.mom2carlo

My son has 3 t-shirts that have Autism on them.  One that says "Autism" on the front and then the statistics on the back ("twenty years ago 1 in 10,000, five years ago 1 in 500, Today 1 in 250.  Twenty years from now...Scared Yet?")  Another that says "Autism, know me know it"  And yet another that says "I may not be able to understand what you're saying to me.  I may have severe temper tantrums.  I may have some odd behaviors.  I'm Not Naughty or Spoiled.  I have Autism."

I like all 3 of them and let my son wear them (he picks out his own clothes now).  I think and I hope that by wearing these shirts he is educating people out there who don't know or understand about Autism.  I too have several shirts that talk about Autism.  I also have shirts that talk about how young women can get Breast Cancer (as I did and I really hope that women out there pay attention to).  But just like the others said I think it is a parents decision.

My son does not have an autism related T-shirt. But I do! 3 of them.

The only thing that worried me about my son wearing the T-shirt. (I'm so paranoid)I'm from Australia so we don't have shirts like that here. I did hear of a mum from Tasmania who had one for her son that said "I've got Autism, what's your excuse?"

Cute hey?

I agree with the others, if it doesn't feel right don't wear it. And I want one for me

Okay this may seem like a dumb question because it should be my decision because Nick is my son.....but I like to know what others would do, my mother bought Nick a tshirt with a little boy on the front holding a sling shot that says" I am not naughty I have autism" I haven't decided to let him wear it yet I personally think it is funny because he is always doing naughty things but I am not sure if it is flashing that he has a disability to everyone. He wears an autism awarness bracelet but not everyone pays attention to that but a shirt that spells it out ...does that seem like to much ???? Would any of you or do any of you have the autism tshirts? If so do your kids wear them?? Just wondering if it would be harmful to him if it looks like I am advertising his disability. By no means am I ashamed of it either I just don't know if the shirt is a good idea. Thanks,

Nita,

I do not have a t-shirt for adam.  I think that your right about it being a personal decision.  Also I think it depends on what is on the shirt and what it says.  Ok...i'm bracing for everyone to jump me here but thats ok...I can take it..LOL

The shirt that your describing if I am correct has a child doing a very naughty thing that can actually hurt people. And then it's excusing the behavior by saying "i'm not naughty..i have autism".  I think it's cute and has adult humor for those of us that have children with autism but I think its possible with a shirt like this that the NT parents might get the wrong idea.  Meaning .....they may think that we let our children get away with behaviors like hitting people with a sling shot etc. just because they have autism. I personally don't think it's the best way to educate the public.  I do however see the humor in it and i think it was a great gesture given by your mother....but like i said...i think I get it and find humor because i have a child that is autistic....i dont know if the general public will get it.  I really dont' know though...maybe they would get it?

Ok climbing into the foxhole for protection now..LOL

Karrie
