1-800-662-2544I have read a number of posts where many of you have said that fish oil has been very helpful. I am a true believer in it as it is good for boosting the immune system. My only trouble with it is that my son can't swallow it. Any alternatives, or specific brands that you could recommend?
We use attentive child chewable wafers, and they taste like peach and are vegetarian! No mercury, no fishy taste ... NO IDEA if they help at all either though LOL.
My kids HATED the coromega, however ... I know others love it!
My ds takes capsules - they are Neuromins for Kids by Martek. They are kind of gel-like capsules. He said they taste a little funny - but this is a child who has no problem taking any medicine whatsoever. For a while we had him on extra iron - and those pills were huge! He taught himself how to swallow them. We stopped those within a few days though.
I know there is liquid out there that is flavored. But, perhaps someone else knows what those are? I believe Nordic Naturals - but since we haven't tried it, I wouldn't know which one is good-tasting.
leesita, check out(Other Treatments )about information on Fish Oils. Good Luck!We use Nordic Naturals DHA Junior. They are strawberry flavored and smell fantastic! They are also really small, chewable soft gels, so they don't have to be swallowed.

oh, here's another option. Coromega - You squeeze it onto the spoon and apparantly it tastes really good!
we too use Nordic Naturals DHA Junior. Ryan doesnt like anything so the fact that he takes this no problem is a miracle.
We gave it to Ryan as supplement to aid communication, but he started ABA therapy the same week, so we have no idea if it actaully works.
A friend of mine says that her mom used to giver her fish oils every day growing up and she never got sick. After she told me this I realized that Ryan very rarely gets a cold. Again, no idea if its related, but it might be!
I would prick the gel capsule and mix with syrup in med cup..draw up in oral syringe and squirt it when they least expect it. If she saw it she would bolt:) Goodl luck!My kids love Coromega Orange flavored gel. I think it's gross, but my kids think it's a special treat!vitamin 'A' is toxic in large doses, though is only usually present in cod liver oil supplements in large amounts, though the normal dosage of COL shouldn't cause a problem for a normal (non-infant) child with a normal intake of this vitamin from other sources (i.e. - people run into problems when they are megadosing on supplements and taking in large doses of the fat soluble vitamins). I'm doing a great job staying away from the board, huh?
I think you also have to be careful about how much Vitamin A you give - I believe too much can be very dangerous. Maybe I'm thinking of the wrong vitamin, but I remember being told that when I was pregnant. Anyone know?
