Sometimes two opinions are better than one. I'm glad your doing both, let us know how it goes.
I would go to the one that is offering the quick appt. They might use that appt to talk with you and fill out paperwork, ins, history, etc and then reschedule for the actual evaluation. It is possible to get an evaluation within two weeks.
*edited to add that i think you should still fill out the paperwork for the one that has a waiting list. If you are not satisfied with the first doc, you can also go to the other doc in 7-9 months.
I wonder if he just opened i should try to find that out.
I didnt see that doctor under our insurance but ill try looking her up, i think the doctor with the long waiting list is a childrens hospital too
im going to keep them both. Ya the long wait list doc said id go twice being the second time for the actual eval so i wonder if thats what the other doc is just doing mabye
thanks guys!
I called two doctors in phoenix and they both specialize in autism. One has a 7-9 month waiting period to be seen and are sending me a packet to fill out and send back to them. I think that one is located in a hospital. The other one i called got me an app. for this tuesday. I was very surprised and basically all i have to do is bring him in. I was excited at first but then started thinking that maybe this doctor isnt that great? I was wondering what u guys thought?
There are two possible scenerio's here. One is that it's like you say and the doc sucks. The other is that the dr may be new and just hasn't scheduled alot of appointments yet. Developmental ped's are in such high demand that the list is usually long even for the sucky ones though.could you go into Scottsdale? My dd is a patient of the Melmed Center...I love it there...they dx autism and other disorders...they know so much and everyone is so helpful and wonderful. I wanted to add too...we also went to Phx Childrens Hospital. They are good too and the wait was not too bad. My dd saw a developmental ped and a ped neuro there. I think the developmental ped was Dr Ellis. She was on the news the same night we saw her talking about ASD.
