I did some rearranging yesterday.....exchanged Jacob's twin bed for a full size so that he and his little brother can share a bed rather than always sleeping on the floor  in my room.     Both complain about being afraid to be alone  so I thought this might work.    Well You can imagine Jacob was not happy about the change!!!!!!     YIKES!!!!     He screamed and cried for 2 hours while I was moving things around.    Finally, I just sat down with him and gave him a long deep hug which helped calm him down.     I took him out to the Dairy Queen for a hot fudge sundae and he was quite happy.     That night  he climbed into the bed he said he would hate and fell asleep next to his brother.......they both slept through the night in the bed.    I hope this works   at least for a year or so!!    Then maybe Brett will be ready to sleep in his own bed. Hey whatever works! Glad ya got at least 1 night of sleep..... its a great start! Hope it continues for you

Bonnie,

Sounds like things are going well so far!!  I really like what you did with the hug and then the dairy queen.  Sneeky....LOL.  It seems to have really helped with the transition.  Good job mom!!!

OH I remember "Do Overs!" What a cute Idea!!!My daughter doesn't have a problem with rearanging furniture but routine is LAW at our house.  This past week I broke routine with her a couple of times and she instantly started a meltdown but then an idea came to mind.  I introduced her to the concept of a "do over."  She loves to hear stories about whne I was a boy and so I told her that when I was a kid and something didn't go right we would just call a "do over."  She let me have a do over and we got "back on track," which is another concept we've been working on.  It is helping too.
