change in appetite | Autism PDD

My son has a bigger appetite and is getting a little pudgy, too.  This always happens before or during a major growth spurt (he is growing a lot right now).  However, I also think it is connected to him not getting as much exercise this summer.  Apart from the week at the lake with lots of swimming and playground activity, there's been a lot of screen time.

This is going on with my son right now, only I'm about 99.9% sure it's related to his growth spurt. He's grown almost three inches since the middle of  May! I have an almost 5'7" 11 year old on my hands with the build to go along with the height. not good on days when he decides to have a major meltdown!

If it's not growth or medication  related, it's completely possible it's boredom related. That being said, my brother is a type 1 diabetic, and my husband is a type 2 diabetic. Before their diagnosis and medication, they would eat like there was no tomorrow because they were constantly hungry. I would say if your son is experiencing excessive thirst and excessive urination, along with the hunger, you should probably take him to the doctor just to be sure it's not type 1 or 2 diabetes. Better to be safe than sorry, IMHO.

My ds has always been a good eater, ative and had a normal weight. The
last three month about he is always asking me for food. After lunch he
will easily eat an apple, a banana, a joghurt and 5 slices of bread and then
be hungry for dinner. I was expecting a growthspurt but it has not
happend jet and he is starting to get pudgy.
I have heard that some kids at some point loose their ability to feel
hunger or feel full and either (depending if they are picky eaters or not)
stop eating or can't stop eating.
Anyone else had a noticable change in appetite?

Is he on Medication and has he just started it within the last few months?  Or has he had a dosage change etc?  That's the only other thing I can think of other than a growth spurt or boredom. Adam more recently has been asking me for food non-stop but I assumed that It was due to bordem with it being summer and not as much structure at home.  With Adam I don't mind because he is soooo small for his age...he could use a couple more pounds on him.

Ali is having some issues right now.  Her appetite for regular foods (meals) is VERY LOW but her craving for sugar (candy, cookies, fruit snacks, etc.) is EXTREMELY HIGH!  She just goes after one sugar after the other...she reminds me of my dad who is diabetic & bipolar...he constantly snacks on sugary foods.  For the last couple months, Ali has said MANY times "I am always tired, hungry, and thirsty!"  and she has been compalining of being dizzy a lot.

She feels like she is getting heavier...then I weighed her yesterday and she only weighs one pound more than this time LAST YEAR
